Bodyboarding is full of companies that really care about the sport, such as the good people at Custom X and ebodyboarding to name a few.
Well, Dave Hubbard and friends have gone above and beyond the call of duty and are developing a new company for the betterment of bodyboarding as a whole. It's called Boogie Nation, and well I am full-on stoked, as I am sure you will be as you read on.
Who came up with the idea of Boogie Nation? And who is involved in it?
Well, I came up with it a few years ago. Tim Hamilton liked it enough to wse it as the name of his first bodyboarding video release. I wanted to get something going to better the sport so I came in and said, "lets make this thing a non-profit." With a little help from my dad. Right now there are several people involved, since its at such a beginning stage.
They are Tim and myself, as well as another editor Adam Bice, additional footage From Mark Balasbas, Llowen Liberato, Bob Sato and Jenavi Correa. There's much more, but once we get off the ground we'll be trying to engage many contacts and resources to better the sport.
What is Boogie Nation exactly?
It's a non-profit company, and it’s a bodyboarding movie. Both have yet to be finalized in an actual sense, because more than anything, Boogie Nation is an idea. It’s the idea that bodyboarders can thrive together through positivity.
How does it differ from existing bodyboarding companies/organizations?
One, it’s gonna be run as a charitable organization. Meaning any disposable income will be used to benefit the sport. Be it through sponsoring underprivileged rippers onto trips, promoting the sport through a variety of channels, holding amateur events, collaborating on various projects, and anything else that holds promise to having a positive effect on the state of bodyboarding.
What kind of effect do you expect Boogie Nation to have on bodyboarding? What are you hoping for?
Positive, obviously I'm hoping for a positive effect. If its received positively and we can unite a nation of bodyboarders, that's the goal.
With Dave at the helm the future of Boogie Nation looks bright. Be sure to check back on updates about Boogie Nation on our site and many bodyboarding site out there others out there.
